Tuscarawas County Senior Center is hiring a part-time (20-25 hrs per week) Senior Helper. This position provides light housekeeping, errands and minimal personal care to help seniors remain independent in their own homes. Must be compassionate and have the ability to work well with senior citizens.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have drivers license and car insurance.
Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.
Flexible schedule!!
No evenings, weekends or holidays!
$12.00 per hour + Mileage reimbursement.

Job Description
Position: In-Home Senior Helper
Position: Part-time Classification: Hourly non-exempt
Position Summary:
Provide homemaking services in a respectful, compassionate manner, including cleaning, meal
preparation, laundry, and other tasks outlined in the client’s care plan.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Complete all assigned visits and accurately document services, client status, and any changes in condition.
- Follow each client’s care plan and report any concerns, unmet needs, or safety issues to the supervisor
promptly.
- Work effectively with a diverse population of older adults, including individuals of different backgrounds,
abilities, and household conditions.
- Perform duties in varied home environments, including homes with pets, smokers, clutter, or limited space.
- Participate in required in-service training and maintain all agency competencies.
- Report and document accidents or incidents immediately according to agency procedure.
- Maintain punctuality and dependability in completing scheduled visits and submitting paperwork on time.
- Follow call-off and no-answer procedures, including contacting the supervisor or office if a client does not
answer the door.
- Provide schedule flexibility when coverage is needed due to staff illness or vacation.
- Additional duties as needed and assigned.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to be trained in homemaking tasks such as meal preparation, vacuuming, bathroom and
kitchen cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
- Ability to interact with older adults in a calm, reassuring, and professional manner.
- Awareness of the unique needs, challenges, and safety considerations of aging adults.
- Successful completion of an authorized Ohio BCI criminal background check.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and a safe driving record.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to four hours).
- Ability to climb stairs multiple times per day while carrying items such as groceries or laundry.
- Ability to work independently in client homes and adapt to changing environments and client needs.
