A prominent DC govenrment agency is looking for a database developer to support a team that creates and maintains a telecommunication focused, web-based Operational Support System (OSS) application.
The database developer will be an integral part of theAgile/Scrum team, responsible for maintaining and enhancing the database for an internal web application. This role will develop and maintain an Oracle database that supports the OSS. The database for this application currently utilizes spatial data and integrates with GIS software.
This project primarily uses an Oracle Database. A major focus of the initial phase of this project will be to migrate the data from the current Oracle 11g Database to a more current Oracle 19c Database. This process needs to be done in a stepwise fashion to ensure that the current functionality that relies on the Oracle 11gDatabase continues to function properly while the data model and objects are seamlessly upgraded to using Oracle 19c.
The database developer will be expected to create sophisticated data models using SQL, triggers, procedural SQL that handles multistep transactions, and visualizing data models with entity relationship diagrams and other methods.
In addition to the Oracle databases(11g and 19c) the application also integrates data from other 3rdparty applications that store their data in Microsoft SQL Server databases. The project also uses ESRI’s GIS Server and Desktop product lines (e.g. ArcGIS Server, SDE, ArcGIS Pro) for Geospatial visualization of the Oracle data and to fulfill more sophisticated Mapping and Analysis requests.
the candidate is expected to be a mature team member who can take directions, provide technical guidance, and is able to communicate problems as they arise. He should be a lifetime learner who knows how to work on a problem, propose solutions, and ask for help.
Suitable candidates will be expected to complete a "Pseudo-Code Assessment" form, which we will provide to those we select for the interview process. The form includes questions that are meant to demonstrate your competency in general database development.
