Internship - Garage Mechanic
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist mechanics with various technical tasks associated with gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.- Assists mechanics with preventive maintenance on gasoline and diesel equipment. Task include replacing brakes, changing oil and filter, lubricating, replacing hoses and belts, replacing hydraulic hoses, valves and cylinders, checking pressure systems, tire repair, etc.
- Utilize various types of references, equipment and tools to assist mechanics with maintenance and repairs. Includes OTC onboard diagnostic equipment, software repair manuals, standard repair manuals, mechanic hand tools, hydraulic floor lifts, tire changer, tire balancer, hydraulic hose machine, jack stands, air impact wrenches, battery tester, charge system tester, anti-freeze tester, mobile fuel dispenser, etc.
- Assists with the preparation of vehicle maintenance reports, preventative maintenance schedules, daily work orders, and purchase orders.
- Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals including customers, team members, and supervisor.
Requirements
Pursuing vocational or technical school training in mechanics.
Lift equipment weighing up to 60lbs.
Some knowledge or interest in garage mechanics
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
