Job Title: Legal Assistant (Workers' Compensation & Personal Injury)

We are a client-focused workers' compensation and personal injury law firm located in Jonesboro, Georgia. Our small team environment allows us to provide dedicated, high-quality representation to our clients. We are looking for an organized, proactive Legal Assistant to help us manage our growing caseload and keep our firm running smoothly. This position is full-time (in-office, no remote work) with working hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The ideal candidate must live within reasonable proximity to the office and have reliable transportation.
Job Duties
- Case Management: Handle personal injury and workers' compensation files from intake through resolution.
- Evidence Gathering: Request (through a vendor), organize, and save medical records and billing statements, and obtain police reports.
- Communication: Intake communication with prospective clients, handle client phone calls, and communicate with other staff members and our attorneys, medical providers, insurance adjusters, and opposing counsel via email and telephone.
- Document Preparation: Draft mileage/prescription reimbursement requests, appointment letters, and other documents.
- Scheduling: Coordinate and calendar depositions, mediations, court hearings, independent medical evaluations, functional capacity evaluations, and client appointments.
- Admin Support: Maintain digital files, answer phones, and perform other daily administrative tasks.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience working in an office setting; however, any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Legal Knowledge: Familiarity with Georgia court structures, filing procedures, and legal terminology.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, professional phone etiquette, and strict attention to detail
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Reliability: Ability to prioritize a high volume of tasks independently in a small office setting.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $32,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
- 401(k) Matching Program: Eligibility begins after one year of service to the firm has been completed.
