BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION
The General Mechanic repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, production machinery and mechanical equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. Will also perform general plumbing, carpentry, welding and cutting work, as well as other duties as requested by Team Coach.
Coaching, training, and disciplining are provided and coordinated by the Maintenance Department Team Coach.
JOB OBJECTIVE
To efficiently perform the assigned tasks in accordance with the standards as established by the Company.
The position holder should:
- Support harmonious relations and good team work with co-workers, Team Coaches, and managers.
- Constantly strive for improvement in the performance of job duties.
- Willingly and enthusiastically cooperate with, assist, and support the immediate Team Coach in his/her efforts to achieve the highest level of productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction for the subject area of responsibility.
- Abide by the work rules and rules of good personal behavior as required by Company policy; and support the Company, its policies, rules, and regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Observe and listen to production machinery and mechanical equipment in operation to locate causes of trouble.
2. Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
3. Examine form and texture of parts to detect problems.
4. Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools.
5. Start machinery and test-operate to assure that necessary repairs have been made and that machinery/equipment is operating properly.
6. Lubricate and clean machinery and equipment as necessary. Perform other preventative maintenance as needed or scheduled.
7. Perform general plumbing, carpentry, and welding work as needed.
8. Regular and predictable attendance at work as scheduled.
OTHER DUTIES
1. Clean up work areas after performing maintenance and repairs.
2. Keep all tools and repair equipment in good repair, clean, secure, and organized.
3. Perform any other duties as requested by Team Coach.
4. Prepare record of time worked as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND CHARACTERISTICS DESIRED
1. Basic knowledge of welding, mechanical equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic carpentry and plumbing skills.
2. Ability to operate general carpentry tools, pipe threading machine, welder, and cutting equipment.
3. Ability to concentrate and give continuous close attention to job.

4. Ability and reliability to work without continuous close supervision, manage time wisely to complete assigned tasks, and utilize all on-duty time for the benefit of the Company.
5. Must have general problem solving skills to trouble shoot machinery problems.
6. Honest, dependable and trustworthy with a high degree of pride in work and a good work ethic.
7. Demonstrate a positive attitude. Must have or acquire an understanding that criticism of a fellow employee in a demeaning, degrading, or in a character destructive manner is counter productive to developing a cohesive team spirit within the operating unit.
8. Ability to learn and understand operational and maintenance guides and specifications of equipment.
9. Accountable and readily accepts responsibility for job responsibilities.

11. Open to a changing environment and willing to accept change. Willingness to look for new and better ways to handle day-to-day activities and work toward continuous improvement in performance of job duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Performance of job may require lifting and moving heavy machinery and equipment, climbing and working off ladder, and stooping and bending.
2. Must exercise caution, follow all safety rules and regulations, and use all safety equipment as necessary. Report any safety issues to Team Coach.
3. Must work continuously at an acceptable pace, while still maintaining an acceptable level of quality.
4. Requires continuous close attention to job duties to efficiently perform job.
5. Smoking, the use of other tobacco products, or vaping on any McRae Industries, Inc. premises or in Company vehicles is allowed only where designated.

7. The workplace is a pleasant business environment and your language and physical conduct should always be consistent with this type atmosphere. Verbal or physical conduct which harasses, embarrasses, disrupts, or interferes with your Team Mates' work performance, which creates an intimidating, offensive, or hostile environment, or in general is not consistent with good workplace behavior is not allowed. GENERAL CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

5. Must work all normal scheduled work hours and any additional hours as required by business conditions and requested by Coach. The Company has a policy of making reasonable accommodation for specific religious beliefs which conflict with established and normal operating procedures. Overtime hours may be required without advance notice based on production schedule.
6. Perform any other duties as may be: (a) appropriate, necessary, or required to cause the Company to be operated at its highest level of efficiency and profitability; and (b) as may be directed by Coach.
7. There is a ninety (90) day waiting period before becoming eligible for most non-mandatory employee benefit plans. Days Off With Pay accrual is effective immediately for regular full-time employees. Holiday pay is available for regular full-time employees after the completion of the 90-day waiting period.

RATE OF PAY
In accordance with Wage and Hour Laws, this job, as described herein, is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Wage and Hour Laws and is compensated on an hourly basis with overtime pay at 1 1/2 times the regular hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours during any work week. Paid on a weekly basis.
HOURLY PAY RANGE: $15.00 to $18.00
The starting wage will be determined by an appraisal of the candidate's experience, knowledge relevant to the job content, and skill development necessary to perform the duties of the job at or above the acceptable level.
