Duties
- Safely operate box trucks and other specialized vehicles such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to transport freight across multiple routes
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using forklift or manual handling techniques, ensuring proper securing of freight to prevent damage during transit
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load securement
- Follow designated delivery routes accurately while adapting to route changes or traffic conditions to meet delivery schedules
- Maintain detailed logs of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance needs in compliance with company policies and DOT regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to confirm delivery times, address concerns, and ensure customer satisfaction
- Assist in warehouse operations when needed by helping with freight sorting or inventory management
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission preferred
- Proven truck driving experience, especially with freight delivery using box trucks or similar vehicles
- Ability to operate a variety of vehicle types including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks
- Skilled in load & unload procedures with experience using forklifts or manual handling equipment
- Knowledge of route driving best practices along with familiarity with safety regulations such as DOT standards
- Strong physical stamina for lifting freight and performing vehicle inspections regularly
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating deliveries and interacting professionally with customers and team members
