We are looking for a clinical laboratory technologist who possesses strong attention to detail, communication and organizational skills, and the ability to solve problems, to join as a key member of the laboratory department.
Job Description – Clinical Laboratory Technologist
- Conduct analysis of body fluids, including blood, urine, and/ or tissue, to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components.
- Conduct diagnostic benchwork in the areas of Immunology, Chemistry, and Molecular diagnostics
- Perform manual or automated immunology testing and molecular diagnostics procedures including DNA extraction and purification, and PCR amplification.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used for quantitative and qualitative analysis, including analytical scales, spectrophotometers, PCR equipment, and automated liquid handlers.
- Processes specimens, performs setup and verification of run batches, performs testing, and upload results to the laboratory information system
- Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results.
- Provide technical information pertaining to lab results to the Laboratory Director or staff as needed.
- Troubleshoot problems pertaining to test error and/or equipment failure.
- Maintains laboratory inventory stock and sample storage.
- Exercise Universal Precautions and Best Practices when handling infectious materials to avoid contamination.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, medical technology, or related area required.
- ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.
- 0-3 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
- Written Comprehension - The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing; processing text, grasping its meaning, and connecting it to what you already know.
- Oral Communication - The ability to accurately and efficiently orally communicate information and ideas.
- Attention to Detail- Ability to follow exact testing protocols to prevent diagnostic errors.
- Critical Thinking- The ability to recognize abnormal results and troubleshoot assay/equipment failure.
- Technical Skills - Experience transferring multiple liquid volumes using precision and micro-volume pipettes.
