Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Quality Manager to oversee daily Quality Assurance and Quality Control operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining product quality standards, driving process improvements, resolving production quality issues, and working directly with operations teams on the manufacturing floor. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with active involvement in day-to-day production and quality activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day QA/QC activities and ensure consistent product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
- Develop, implement, and maintain inspection procedures, quality standards, and testing protocols.
- Work directly with production teams to identify quality concerns, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) efforts related to internal defects, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
- Monitor production processes and conduct routine floor audits to ensure compliance with quality requirements and operating procedures.
- Review and analyze quality data including scrap rates, first-pass yield, nonconformances, and customer returns to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving efficiency, and minimizing waste.
- Support and participate in internal audits, customer audits, and compliance activities.
- Train production and quality personnel on inspection methods, quality procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and customer service teams to improve overall product quality and process consistency.
- Ensure proper documentation, calibration, recordkeeping, and adherence to company quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.
- 5–7 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing leadership responsibility.
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspections, root cause analysis, and corrective action systems.
- Experience with ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Comfortable working directly on the production floor in a hands-on environment.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and quality reporting tools preferred.
- Ability to lead by example and work effectively across departments.
