Our client, a custom builder of vehicles, mobile medical trailers and event transportation is seeking an Electrical Project & Wiring Specialistto add to their build team in the Automotive space. This role pays $27-$32 based on experience, involves NO TRAVEL, and works in a climate-controlled facility in New Berlin, WI. Hours are standard at 6am -3:30pm with flexibility and ability for optional overtime. The role comes with a strong benefit plan and great flexibility for work/life balance.
Specialists work in teams with Carpenters and Fabricators to build a variety of vehicles that require “power” in a variety of unique and original marketing related ways. The Electrical Specialist needs to possess some experience with both common AC wiring and automotive style DC wiring.
The incumbent of this role will:
- Use creativity and teamwork to tackle a variety of custom projects using wiring skills.
- Read electrical blueprints/drawings for light, switch, and outlet layouts.
- Provide interpretation of wire diagrams and installation of:
- Solar panel mounts and electrical components needed for custom builds.
- AC circuits for a variety of uses (TV's, roof top a/c units, inlet power supply, 120v/240v converter, vehicle generators).
- DC circuits for water pumps, tank sensors, LED lights, roof top fans, refrigerators, battery chargers, battery disconnect, light power supply, switches, dimmers, and low voltage.
- Breaker panel layout/landing for AC and DC circuits.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems that arise throughout the course of projects.
- Collaborate with other skilled trades in small spaces to effectively give customers the unique product they envision.
- Create custom fabrications with different metals/enamels to become a wire chase, cover plate, template, bracket or display for switches or gauges.
- Precisely cut-in holes for electrical usage in finished material.
- Accurately document materials used and needed for job completion.
- Keep a detailed record of tasks performed each day, tasks needing to be completed, and goals for the day.
- Safely use power tools, hand tools, electrical diagnostic tools, and shop tools. Listen to direction from supervisors.
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
Qualifications
· 2+ years experience performing in role that requires wiring or electrical competency.
· Hands-on experience with both common AC wiring and automotive style DC wiring.
· Understanding of electrical wiring techniques and methods of installation and construction/build.
· Ability to read technical documents and drawings
· Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
· Strong communication skills and ability to work with teams.
· Electrical or wiring certification or education is desired but NOT required.
Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
