Position Summary
Under the direction of the One-Stop Career Training Services Direct Services Manager, assesses customer eligibility and delivers a comprehensive range of career development and vocational counseling services funded through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Services are provided in accordance with program requirements established by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) and the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL). All duties are performed in Hunterdon County and Somerset County.
Essential Functions
- Conduct intakes and interviews with scheduled and walk-in customers to assess the needs and develop individualized career plans.
- Determine and document eligibility for grant-funded workforce development and training programs.
- Guide unemployed and underemployed residents in accessing education and training opportunities to enhance technical, vocational, and professional skills, leading to sustainable living-wage employment
- Deliver individual and group career counseling services, including career exploration, resume development, job search strategies, and interview preparation
- Coordinate and track referrals to workforce partners, training providers, educational institutions, and employers
- Provide ongoing case management, progress reporting, and retention services to support customers throughout their employment and training journey
- Identify customer needs and connect individuals to supportive or alternative services to address barriers to employment
- Maintain accurate and timely records in NJDOL’s state database (AOSOS) and other state-mandated and local management systems.
- Participate in professional development activities, including workshops, trainings, and conferences, as approved by management
- Represent the One-Stop Career Training Services Center on committees, task forces, and collaborative work groups as assigned
- Safeguard confidential customer information while performing administrative duties, including filing, document management, and records retention.
- Provide front desk coverage and customer service support as needed to ensure continuous operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, justice studies, education, human services or related field.
- Experience providing case management.
- Advanced verbal and written communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet navigation.
- Valid NJ driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual
Experience working with clients from divergent backgrounds and cultures who may need mental health, substance use, housing and food insecurity challenges.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Salary: $45,000/year (Grant-Funded)
