Position Information:
This is a Open Competitive recruitment to establish an eligibility list for current and future vacancies. Incumbents holding this position are responsible for performing a variety of difficult, specialized administrative support functions related to tracking and reporting school attendance that require a thorough knowledge of attendance-related laws, codes, terminology, procedures, and practices.
Duration of eligibility list:
Successful candidates will be placed on the eligibility list that will remain valid for six months from the date of approval by the Personnel Commission.
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, verifies, documents, maintains and distributes specialized records and reports pertaining to student enrollment and attendance for an assigned school; performs a wide variety of responsible and specialized clerical support functions; and performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Incumbents in this class perform a variety of difficult, specialized administrative support functions related to tracking and reporting school attendance that require a thorough knowledge of attendance-related laws, codes, terminology, procedures and practices. Incumbents are expected to carry out assigned duties with a significant degree of attention to detail, independence and accountability for results.

Attendance Technician is distinguished from Attendance Assistant in that incumbents in the former class perform more difficult and specialized administrative functions in compiling information for and developing critical attendance accounting documents for school and District use, requiring greater familiarity with District attendance policies and procedures, and the use of judgment and knowledge gained through experience.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.
1. Researches, compiles, enters, tabulates and verifies information for and develops, reviews, completes and maintains records and daily, weekly and monthly reports pertaining to student attendance, enrollment and other assigned matters; collects, compiles, reviews and enters enrollment, Scantron attendance, health immunization, student information and other assigned information into the District's student tracking system; assembles, inspects, tabulates and inputs relevant information and produces, reviews, edits and distributes applicable reports, including ADA reports, to school administrators and district office; completes relevant attendance forms, documents and cards, including attendance check cards; maintains organized records for ADA audits; completes and issues permits for ill students or those with approved appointments; checks records for perfect attendance and completes and distributes perfect attendance certificates or other awards.
2. Regularly interacts with faculty, students, parents, service agencies, school administrators and District officials; organizes and distributes faculty forms and files to obtain attendance-related information and initiates, obtains and verifies faculty notifications of student absences; as required, contacts parents or guardians via telephone or by sending written correspondence to notify them of or make inquiries regarding excused and unexcused absences; provides referrals, information, interpretation and assistance to parents and students with routine to moderately difficult attendance-related inquiries or complaints and notifies supervisor of inquiries and complaints outside scope of knowledge or authority; assigns Saturday School or after school work programs to students with excessive absences and tardies; recommends home visits to District office personnel in accordance with established policies and procedures; notifies administrators regarding students with excessive absences; verifies authorizing signatures and issues late slips, passes and admits.
3. Performs administrative duties related to ACT/SART/SARB proceedings; collects information for and types, completes, compiles and proofreads applicable forms and documentation for students participating in ACT/SART/SARB; as necessary, contacts other schools for additional information; assists in identifying appropriate students for the program; schedules court and intervention meetings.
4. May provide lead direction to other clerical staff.
OTHER DUTIES:
1. Performs other office administrative support duties; from rough notes, drafts, dictation or detailed oral instructions, types, completes, compiles, reviews and proofreads assigned reports, records, correspondence and other documentation, including that related to student transfers; receives, screens, provides information and assistance to and refers visitors or telephone calls; within state and local laws and regulations and District policies and practices, releases or obtains student information from other schools.
2. May collect assigned monies, such as PTA or lunch monies.
3. Takes textbook inventory and processes, distributes and collects textbooks.
4. Within level of authority, orders supplies for faculty.
5. Counts and reports student lunches for the cafeteria.
6. May input teacher absences into Subfinder system.
7. Attends to ill students, documents symptoms and treatments and provides first aid within District policies and practices.

After the evaluation of minimum qualifications, examination parts for this recruitment may include, but are not limited to the following: written exam, performance exam, oral appraisal interview, physical ability test, oral presentation, project assignment, etc.
