Hansen’s Tree Service is growing, and we are looking for dependable, hard-working Ground Crew Technicians to join our Lake of the Ozarks team.
This is an entry-level field operations position within our Tree & PHC Division. No prior tree care experience is required, but you must be willing to work hard, learn quickly, follow directions, and put safety first every single day.

About the Role
The Ground Crew Technician supports tree care crews by performing essential ground-level work during tree pruning, removal, cleanup, hauling, and job site preparation activities.
This position works directly with Crew Leaders, Climbers, Tree Technicians, and other field team members to help ensure that each job is completed safely, efficiently, and professionally.
Ground Crew Technicians are expected to learn the basic tools, equipment, safety procedures, and work practices of professional tree care. This position also serves as the first step in Hansen’s internal training and development path through Hansen University, where employees may train toward advancement into higher-level field roles such as Ground Crew Technician II, Tree Technician, Climber, Crew Leader, and beyond.
What You’ll Do
As a Ground Crew Technician, your work may include:
- Assisting with tree pruning, tree removal, brush removal, and job site cleanup
- Dragging brush, feeding chippers, moving logs, and staging materials
- Loading and unloading tools, equipment, debris, and materials
- Maintaining safe work zones around active tree care operations
- Supporting climbers and equipment operators from the ground
- Raking, blowing, sweeping, and restoring job sites after work is completed
- Helping prepare trucks, trailers, tools, and equipment for daily work
- Following instructions from Crew Leaders and senior crew members
- Learning safe work practices for chainsaws, chippers, ropes, rigging, and other tree care equipment
- Communicating professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and customers
- Following all company safety rules, job briefing instructions, and stop-work procedures

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid driver’s license required, class "E" preferred
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work as part of a crew in a safety-sensitive environment
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding outdoor position. Employees must be able to:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, twist, reach, push, pull, lift, and carry throughout the workday
- Lift and carry brush, logs, tools, equipment, and materials
- Work outdoors in heat, cold, humidity, rain, dust, mud, and uneven terrain
- Work around loud equipment, moving vehicles, falling debris, and active tree care operations
- Wear required personal protective equipment
- Maintain attention to safety while performing repetitive and strenuous work

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
