Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers with manual transmission, across over-the-road (OTR) routes and local deliveries.
- Load and unload freight using proper manual handling techniques and equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Transport various types of cargo, including hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, refrigerated goods, and specialty loads like flatbed or tanker shipments.
- Use GPS navigation systems to follow optimized routes, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Load and unload cargo efficiently at multiple delivery points, maintaining the integrity of freight during transit.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route adjustments, delivery statuses, or any incidents encountered on the road.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record and proven experience in commercial truck driving.
- Demonstrated experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or dump trucks is preferred.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat) and dangerous goods handling is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and handle manual cargo loading/unloading processes.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time adjustments during trips.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA standards, and safety protocols for over-the-road trucking.
- Experience with logistics cargo handling equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks is a plus.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, punctuality, and customer service excellence.
