Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards. Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, with precision and artistry.
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality by regularly checking inventory and sourcing supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to food safety standards at all times.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service during busy periods.
- Assist in catering events as needed, providing exceptional service and presentation of sushi platters.
- Stay updated on current trends in sushi preparation and presentation to continually enhance menu offerings.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques and best practices for food handling.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant setting.
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in food preparation techniques specific to sushi making.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- A passion for culinary arts with a focus on Japanese cuisine is preferred.
