OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager to join our commercial electrical construction team. The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful execution of assigned commercial and industrial electrical construction projects from Notice of Intent through completion and final payment.
This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of assigned projects, including scope, scheduling, procurement, project documentation, financial performance, billing, change management, and coordination with field personnel, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
The Project Manager will work closely with Estimators, Superintendents, Assistant Project Managers, and field leadership to ensure projects are properly planned and executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, financially aware, and comfortable taking ownership of projects while effectively communicating with both office and field teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProject Management & Execution
- Manage commercial electrical construction projects from Notice of Intent through project completion and final payment.
- Review project plans, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and schedules to develop a thorough understanding of project requirements.
- Work closely with Estimating and the Senior Project Manager during project turnover to confirm scope, budget, exclusions, and project expectations.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and deadlines.
- Coordinate with Superintendents and field personnel to ensure projects are properly staffed and progressing according to schedule.
- Monitor projects for safety, quality, productivity, schedule, and cost performance.
- Identify potential project risks and develop solutions before they impact cost or schedule.
- Ensure project deadlines and cost targets are met.
- Conduct regular jobsite walkthroughs and participate in jobsite and coordination meetings.
- Maintain strong working relationships with General Contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
Financial Management & Cost Control
- Take ownership of project financial performance and job profitability.
- Perform monthly cost-to-complete projections and review project performance against budget.
- Prepare and manage monthly Schedules of Values, progress billings, and receivable worksheets.
- Monitor project costs, commitments, purchases, and projections.
- Maintain accurate project budgets, cost entries, and approvals.
- Review and approve project purchases and expenditures within established company guidelines.
- Monitor accounts receivable and work with the appropriate team members to address outstanding payments.
- Review and perform buyout of major material purchases and subcontract agreements.
- Provide detailed reporting on project costs, purchases, projections, and financial performance.
Change Management & Project Documentation
- Identify, price, negotiate, and manage change orders throughout the project.
- Estimate and process Change Orders, ASIs, CPRs, and Change Directives.
- Maintain accurate documentation supporting changes in project scope and cost.
- Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and current, including:
- RFIs
- Submittals
- Change Orders
- Approved drawings and specifications
- As-builts
- Layouts
- O&M manuals
- Warranties
- Other required project documentation
- Ensure project closeout requirements are completed and submitted on time.
- Coordinate with Assistant Project Managers and administrative staff to maintain organized project records.
Procurement & Resource Coordination
- Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, rentals, and other resources required for project completion.
- Review material requirements and identify potential procurement issues that could impact project schedules.
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and the warehouse to ensure materials and equipment are available when needed.
- Coordinate project-specific equipment, testing agencies, PPE, rentals, travel, and lodging as required.
- Work with field leadership to identify labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor needs.
- Monitor material deliveries and address delays or shortages that may affect project progress.
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned projects.
- Communicate effectively with Owners, General Contractors, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, field employees, and internal leadership.
- Coordinate regularly with Superintendents and field personnel regarding project progress, manpower, materials, schedule, and issues.
- Attend required project and jobsite meetings.
- Communicate project status, risks, financial performance, and significant issues to leadership.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure company policies, procedures, and expectations are communicated and followed on assigned projects.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical contracting.
- 5+ years of construction project management, supervision, or related experience.
- Experience managing commercial or industrial electrical construction projects.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects from contract award or Notice of Intent through completion and final payment.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical drawings, structural drawings, specifications, and complete construction plan sets.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, project scheduling, procurement, change orders, billing, job costing, and project closeout.
- Experience with Accubid, Trimble, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction software.
- Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to understand project budgets, costs, projections, and profitability.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Current valid driver's license.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to and report to active job sites daily.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Apprentice or Journeyman Electrical License.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience working with General Contractors and Owners on commercial construction projects.
- Experience with electrical estimating and estimating software.
- Knowledge of electrical construction materials, equipment, installation methods, and industry standards.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in both a professional office environment and active construction job sites. The role routinely requires the use of computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
While working on construction sites, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, elevated noise levels, and varying weather conditions. Jobsite conditions may include extreme heat, cold, and other outdoor elements.
The ability to safely navigate and work in an active construction environment is required.
POSITION TYPE & TRAVEL
This is a full-time position, generally requiring approximately 40 hours per week. Work hours may vary based on project requirements, and flexibility may be required.
Travel to and between active construction sites is required. The Project Manager will report to assigned job sites daily as required by project needs.

Work Location: On the road
