Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends required for events
Pay Range: $26.00 to $30.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Incentive Potential: Up to $5,000 annually based on achievement of approved events budget goals

The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce (GCVCC) is one of the region’s leading business organizations, representing more than 1,000 businesses throughout the Coachella Valley. As the region’s voice for business, GCVCC serves as a catalyst for local commerce, a convener of business and community leaders, and a champion for economic growth through advocacy, networking, education, and signature events.
We are seeking an energetic, highly organized, and detail-oriented Events Manager to lead the planning and execution of a diverse portfolio of Chamber events. From networking mixers, lunch clubs, and ribbon cuttings to business awards, golf tournaments, legislative programs, and large-scale community festivals, this position is responsible for creating professional, high-quality events that strengthen the business community.
The ideal candidate enjoys building relationships, managing multiple projects, working with community partners, and bringing events to life from concept through completion.
Position Summary
The Events Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of Chamber-hosted events throughout the Coachella Valley. This position works closely with Chamber staff, sponsors, member businesses, elected officials, city staff, vendors, volunteers, and community partners to ensure each event reflects the professionalism, quality, and reputation of the Chamber.
This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute Chamber events from concept through completion.
- Develop and manage event timelines, check-off sheets, budgets, logistics, agendas, scripts, presentations, vendor coordination, permits, staffing plans, and event-day operations.
- Coordinate with venues, caterers, audio/visual providers, entertainment, volunteers, city partners, sponsors, and other event vendors.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for vendors, event partners, attendees, and other stakeholders.
- Work with the Strategic Account Manager to ensure sponsor benefits, sponsorship deliverables, recognition, signage, and event commitments are fulfilled accurately and on time.
- Assist with event marketing and promotion, including coordination of email communications, social media content, website updates, flyers, and other event-related materials.
- Manage event registration, attendee lists, check-in processes, and post-event follow-up using the Chamber’s CRM and event management systems.
- Prepare post-event reports, including attendance, sponsor fulfillment, budget updates, and information needed for staff, sponsor, and board reporting.
- Represent the Chamber professionally at public meetings, networking events, ribbon cuttings, community functions, and Chamber programs.
- Maintain strong relationships with members, sponsors, vendors, city representatives, volunteers, and community partners.
- Support event revenue goals by helping identify opportunities to improve attendance, sponsorship fulfillment, and overall event performance.
- Oversee and manage post-event surveys.
- Work occasional evenings and weekends as required for Chamber events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience in event planning, hospitality, nonprofit management, community engagement, business development, or a related field.
- Strong organizational, project management, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, vendors, and event details simultaneously.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented individual who can work independently, problem-solve, and take initiative.
- Professional, customer-service-focused attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience with event management software, CRM systems, Microsoft Office, Canva, email marketing platforms, or similar tools is preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance are required.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout the Coachella Valley for meetings and events.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Work Location and Requirements
- This position is based at the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce office located on the College of the Desert Indio campus.
- This is an in-person position and requires regular travel throughout the Coachella Valley for meetings, programs, and events.
