Duties
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and assisting with physical assessments.
- Support physicians during procedures, including phlebotomy, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS).
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) by documenting patient encounters, updating medical records, and ensuring data accuracy.
- Conduct patient intake processes, verify insurance information, and assist with appointment scheduling to optimize clinic flow.
- Assist with medical documentation such as ICD coding, anatomy and physiology notes, and medication lists to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
- Perform laboratory tasks including specimen collection (phlebotomy), processing samples, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- Support medical office management by organizing patient files, managing inventory of supplies, and coordinating with hospital or outpatient departments as needed.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, offering reassurance, and ensuring a welcoming environment for diverse patient populations including geriatrics and trauma center cases.
Experience
- Proven medical office experience with a strong understanding of medical terminology and documentation practices.
- Hands-on experience in OBGYN settings is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management is essential for accurate recordkeeping..
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy
- Demonstrated ability to perform clinical tasks such as vital signs collection, anatomy knowledge, ICD coding, and medical assisting techniques across diverse healthcare settings.
