American Traveler is hiring an LPN/LVN for a Medical Surgical assignment at a correctional health facility in Illinois, requiring an active IL license and experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.

Work setting is a correctional health facility

Medical Surgical unit with potential to float to a variety of units across Cook County facilities at the facility's discretion — float locations may be outside primary area of competency and may extend up to 50 miles from the home facility

Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (11:00–23:30)

Every other weekend required (approximately 2 weekends per month)

Charting is done in Cerner

Parking is free on a first-come, first-served basis

Scrub color: Navy Blue

Active Illinois LPN/LVN license required (no pending licenses accepted)

Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing in Illinois
-
Current BLS certification
-
Documented completion of an approved Pharmacology/Medication Administration course for Practical Nurses in accordance with IDFPR standards (documentation may be requested)

Minimum 2 years of recent full-time paid clinical experience in an acute care or ambulatory care facility preferred

Willingness and ability to float to various units and Cook County facilities as needed

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate

2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required — no exceptions

IL license required if applicable

This is a mandatory float facility — travelers may receive float assignments to other Cook County locations with as little as 2 hours' notice before their shift; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation

When floated outside primary area of competency, a team-based care model is utilized

RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days for the duration of the assignment, with no more than 2 consecutive days at a time

RTO on weekends will not be approved
-
No RTO on holidays or the day immediately before or after a holiday
-
No special or block scheduling requests will be accommodated
-
Holiday coverage is required
