This is a non-supervisory position. General Job function is to efficiently and effectively perform maintenance operations; including operating machinery and performing maintenance tasks.NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESAbility to work alone at night and/or weekends maintaining and policing all activities at City facilitiesAbility to perform mowing operations with wide area, zero turn rotary, or reel type mowing equipmentAbility to complete mechanical or manual edging practices on baseball infield and sidewalk areasAbility to mechanically or manually distribute infield materials on baseball infieldsSafety practices and principles related to the use of hand and power tools and water line maintenanceThorough knowledge of the safe and proper operation of equipment including safety standards to prevent hazardsThorough knowledge of the safe and proper operation of motor vehicles including provisions of the Texas Motor Vehicle CodeSufficient skills to service and make minor repairs on equipmentSufficient knowledge of technical skills related to the work of maintenanceSufficient knowledge of plant careKnowledge of aquatic facilities operationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school graduation or its equivalent; experience in maintenance work desirable; orAny equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilitiesCERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIREDA license for application of herbicides and pesticides is preferred but not requiredA Valid Class C Texas motor vehicle driver license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving recordENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDSPrimarily in an outdoor environment with the ability to operate indoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during summer and winter monthsOccasionally exposed to dusty operationsTOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USEDAir tools, chain saw, tree trimming tools, and weed eater, backhoe, agricultural-type tractor with 15’ flex-wing mower and push mower, gator-type four-wheel vehicle with spray rig/applicator, zero-radius riding mowerVehicles such as pickup trucks, light dump trucks, tandem dump trucks, bobcats, tractors, mowers, jack hammers, striping machines, chainsaws, carpentry tools, and garden implements
