American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital requiring chemotherapy and IV therapy skills.

Inpatient Oncology unit in an acute care hospital setting
-
Average daily census of 24 with 24 rooms/beds
-
Patient ratio of 1:6-7
-
Cares for patients with conditions including leukemia/blood dyscrasias and lymphoma/non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
-
Day shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 7:15 AM to 6:45 PM
-
Required to work every other weekend
-
Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
-
No on-call requirements
-
Cerner charting system used
-
Active IL RN license required in hand or in the application process at time of application
-
Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
-
BLS certification required
-
Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC), OCN, and ONS/ONCC preferred but not required
-
Experience with chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and cytotoxic spill management required
-
Experience with IV therapy and infusion skills required, including port access/management, central line and PICC line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
-
Experience recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values required
-
Prior experience in teaching hospitals, community hospitals, LTAC, and Level I/II trauma centers preferred

Prior charge nurse experience preferred

AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
-
Provide direct oncology nursing care including chemotherapy administration and symptom management
-
Manage side effects such as nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, altered mental status, and skin/mucous membrane changes

Provide patient and family education, psychosocial support, and hospice care as needed
-
Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility
-
Any solid color scrubs permitted

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction

RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days
-
Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays

Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
