Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency calls for assistance from the public.
- Utilize GPS and GIS technology to determine the location of incidents and dispatch appropriate resources.
- Conduct phone triage to assess the urgency of situations and provide critical information to responders.
- Enter data accurately into dispatch systems while maintaining detailed logs of all communications.
- Analyze incoming information to make informed decisions regarding resource allocation.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and medical services to coordinate effective responses.
- Maintain knowledge of local geography, streets, and landmarks to assist in efficient routing.
- Provide first aid instructions over the phone when necessary until help arrives.
Requirements
- Previous experience in dispatching or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in data entry with a high level of accuracy.
- Familiarity with GPS systems and GIS mapping tools is advantageous.
- Ability to analyze information quickly and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Certification in emergency dispatching or related training is a plus.
- Knowledge of first aid principles is beneficial.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
