Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Commercial Electrician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems within commercial buildings and industrial facilities. Your expertise will ensure that electrical infrastructure complies with all safety standards and local electrical codes, including NFPA 70 (National Fire Protection Association standards) and NEC (National Electrical Code). The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in industrial and commercial electrical systems, demonstrate proficiency in reading electrical schematics and blueprints, and have a strong commitment to electrical safety procedures. Duties
- Install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, panels, and high-voltage electrical systems in commercial settings.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to accurately execute wiring layouts.
- Conduct diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters to identify faults within electrical circuits.
- Perform high-voltage wiring installations safely according to NFPA 70 compliance standards and local electrical codes.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete electrical work efficiently on construction sites or renovation projects.
- Ensure all work adheres to electrical safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols and proper grounding techniques.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other tradespeople to coordinate installation schedules and ensure timely project completion.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities for compliance audits.
- Read electrical blueprints and schematics accurately to facilitate precise wiring installations or modifications.
- Support low voltage system installations such as alarm systems or data cabling when required.
- Follow all safety guidelines related to working with high-voltage systems and industrial electrical infrastructure.
Experience
- Proven experience as an industrial electrician with a strong background in commercial electrical systems installation and maintenance.
- Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting complex electrical issues using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters and circuit testers.
- Extensive knowledge of NFPA 70 standards, NEC regulations, and local electrical codes applicable to commercial environments.
- Hands-on experience working on construction sites involving renovation projects or new builds within industrial or commercial facilities.
- Skilled in reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams with precision.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in industrial automation systems is preferred.
- Prior experience with high-voltage wiring installations and low-voltage system setups is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate power tools safely while maintaining strict adherence to safety procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills combined with the ability to perform under pressure in dynamic environments.
- Valid electrician’s license or certification relevant to the jurisdiction is required.
