Duties
- Provide accurate interpretation services in Spanish and English across multiple platforms, including over-the-phone, video remote interpretation (VRI), and in-person settings.
- Translate medical terminology and documentation with precision to support medical translation services and ensure clarity in medical records.
- Assist healthcare providers, social workers, legal professionals, and community organizations by interpreting complex conversations related to clinical care, child protective services, hospital procedures, and social work interventions.
- Uphold professional ethics by maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Demonstrate cultural competency by applying cross-cultural communication skills aligned with clinical cultural standards to foster understanding between diverse populations.
- Review medical records and documentation for accuracy during interpretation or translation tasks.
- Achieve HIPAA compliance consistently while delivering high-quality interpretation that meets clinical ethical guidelines.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical interpretation, translating medical terminology, or providing healthcare-related interpretation services.
- Multilingual proficiency in Spanish and English; additional language skills such as American Sign Language are a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, clinical cultural competency standards, and healthcare procedures.
- Familiarity with video remote interpretation (VRI), over-the-phone interpretation (OPI), and in-person interpretation techniques.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and documentation review processes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and empathetically.
- Demonstrated professionalism with adherence to ethical guidelines in all interactions.
- Experience working within hospital environments or social service agencies is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments efficiently while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.
