Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Dog Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of canine behavior and training techniques, with a commitment to enhancing the bond between dogs and their owners. This role involves working closely with dogs of various breeds and temperaments, providing training that promotes good behavior and obedience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement training programs tailored to individual dog needs.
- Conduct group training sessions and private lessons for dog owners.
- Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors.
- Assess each dog's temperament and behavior to create effective training plans.
- Provide guidance to pet owners on proper handling, care, and training methods.
- Maintain a safe and clean training environment for both dogs and handlers.
- Collaborate with other staff members in the care and management of dogs.
- Keep videos/accurate records of training progress for each dog.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dog training, animal handling, or related fields such as kennel work or veterinary assistance.
- Strong knowledge of canine behavior, obedience training techniques, and animal care practices.
- Ability to handle various breeds and sizes of dogs safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to interact positively with clients and their pets.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting, animal restraint, and extended periods of standing or walking.
- Previous experience in pet grooming or equine handling is a plus but not required.
- A genuine love for animals and a desire to help them thrive through effective training.
