Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management.
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties by providing chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, including updating medical documentation, medical coding, and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Monitor vital signs of patients when necessary and assist in medical imaging procedures while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Process dental instruments through proper sterilization techniques, ensuring compliance with infection control standards to prevent cross-contamination.
- Support administrative tasks such as greeting patients as a Dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical records efficiently.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical procedures.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems like Open dental along with familiarity with Epic or similar healthcare software is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, dental sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection control expertise.
- Ability to perform dental X-ray procedures safely and effectively while maintaining patient comfort.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients of all ages and collaborate effectively with the dental team.
- Certification in Dental Assisting or equivalent training; additional certifications in medical terminology or advanced radiography are advantageous.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work efficiently under pressure, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
