Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Polysomnographer/Sleep Technician to join our sleep center team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in sleep medicine, physiology, and respiratory therapy, with the ability to perform diagnostic evaluations and conduct physical examinations. This role involves monitoring and recording sleep patterns, ensuring patient comfort, and contributing to accurate diagnosis and treatment planning for individuals with sleep disorders.
Responsibilities
- Conduct overnight sleep studies by setting up and calibrating polysomnography equipment according to established protocols.
- Monitor patients throughout their sleep sessions, recording vital signs, brain activity, eye movements, muscle activity, and respiratory parameters.
- Perform physical examinations and assess patients’ medical histories to ensure proper study procedures.
- Analyze collected data to assist physicians in diagnosing sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, insomnia, or restless leg syndrome.
- Maintain detailed documentation of each study, including observations related to physiology and anatomy relevant to sleep health.
- Educate patients about the sleep study process and address any concerns or questions they may have.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, infection control protocols, and quality assurance measures within the sleep center environment.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a sleep center or performing polysomnography is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of respiratory therapy techniques and physiology is essential for accurate monitoring and interpretation of data.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and physical examinations enhances diagnostic accuracy.
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to respiratory and neurological functions related to sleep medicine.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize diagnostic evaluation tools effectively in assessing sleep disorders.
- Experience with sleep medicine procedures and familiarity with the latest industry standards is advantageous.
