Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and physically fit Asphalt Laborer specialized in asphalt maintenance. In this role, your primary focus will be executing pavement preservation techniques—specifically sealcoating, crackfilling, line striping, and minor patching. Key Responsibilities
- Sealcoating: Assist in preparing surfaces and applying high-quality sealcoat emulsifiers using spray wands, squeegees, or brooms for a smooth, uniform finish.
- Crackfilling: Clear dirt and debris from pavement cracks using air blowers or routers, and safely apply hot-pour rubberized crack sealant.
- Line Striping: Help layout and paint parking stalls, fire lanes, crosswalks, and directional arrows using stencils and walk-behind striping machines.
- Minor Asphalt Patching: Excavate damaged areas, shovel and rake hot/cold mix asphalt, and use hand tampers or vibratory rollers to compress and level patches.
- Site Prep & Clean Up: Sweep, scrape, and clear job sites prior to application. Ensure all tape, debris, and equipment are cleared from the site upon project completion.
- Equipment Maintenance: Safely operate and perform basic daily cleaning/maintenance on hand tools, blowers, and specialized maintenance machinery.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in asphalt maintenance (sealcoating, crackfill, or striping) is highly preferred, but we are willing to train candidates with the right work ethic.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, walk or stand for long periods, and perform heavy manual labor in hot outdoor weather conditions.
- Dependability: A strong track record of punctuality, reliable attendance, and a solid work ethic.
- Teamwork: Ability to take direction from the Foreperson and communicate effectively with crew members to get the job done safely and efficiently.
- Travel/License: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the shop or job sites is a plus.
