Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Estimator to join our dynamic construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects, ensuring projects are financially viable and aligned with client expectations. Responsibilities
- Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Xactimate, and other construction management tools to develop detailed project estimates.
- Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs from blueprints using Bluebeam and other estimating software platforms.
- Manage project budgets by analyzing costs, controlling expenses, and providing detailed cost management reports throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams through effective negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms.
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that include scope of work, cost breakdowns, and schedule estimates.
- Review construction contracts and ensure all estimates align with contractual obligations while maintaining profitability.
- Monitor material costs by estimating requirements from blueprints and managing procurement processes efficiently.
- Assist in managing multiple projects simultaneously by coordinating estimating activities and maintaining accurate records in spreadsheets and construction management software.
- Support project teams during construction by providing cost control insights and assisting with change order evaluations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a heavy/highway or commercial construction estimator with a strong understanding of the entire estimation process.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, along with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Excellent blueprint reading skills coupled with the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately.
- Strong negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of construction industry standards, contracts, and cost control practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines.
- Construction site experience or hands-on understanding of construction management processes is highly desirable.
- Effective client communication skills to present estimates clearly and negotiate terms confidently.
- Familiarity with construction management software for tracking budgets, schedules, and documentation is preferred.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
