Job Title: Facilities Technician I or II -- Extension Building
Reports To: Director of Facilities
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
*Hours are Monday-Friday, with evening and weekend on-call responsibilities for events.*
SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Facilities Technician I or II is responsible for a variety of maintenance functions in and around the Extension building and offices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:
- Perform outdoor maintenance on the grounds and facilities surrounding the Extension Center.
- Check and replace light bulbs inside the facilities. Clean and disinfect restrooms; replenish supplies daily. Vacuum appropriate areas. Empty, set out and transport trash for pick up.
- Perform routine maintenance on small equipment and facilities including plumbing and basic carpentry/construction skilled jobs. Check and replace light bulbs outside the facilities.
- Perform outdoor grounds keeping duties to include mowing, trimming, raking, painting, snow removal, etc.
- Perform routine janitorial duties to include cleaning floors and hallways, dusting window ledges, counter tops and file cabinets, emptying ash containers in designated areas as needed.
SECONDARY DUTIES
- Attend training, seminars and meetings as deemed necessary by Director of Facilities.
- Perform duties in a manner consistent with safe practices and policies.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment when required.
- Perform other duties and functions as deemed necessary.
EXAMINATION, TESTING AND CERTIFICATION
- Valid South Dakota Driver’s License.
- Successful competition in written and/or oral interviews.
- Other such examination as deemed appropriate and necessary by the County.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma, or G.E.D. Certification.
- One (1) - Five (5) years’ experience of janitorial and general maintenance preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable to the hiring authority, depending on the position.
- Must be able to work without direct supervision.
