Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Billing Specialist to join our team at Olea Pediatric Therapy. In this role, you will partner with and assist our Lead Billing Specialist in a two-person billing department, working together to ensure timely payments from individual clients and insurance providers for pediatric speech and occupational therapy services.
A key focus of this position will be obtaining prior authorizations and diligently following up on denied claims. This is a remote position, but we do require candidates to have experience in the healthcare space.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with and provide daily support to the Lead Billing Specialist.
- Obtain and track prior authorizations for speech and occupational therapy services.
- Vigorously follow up on denied claims, navigating insurance portals to resolve denials and process appeals.
- Process and submit initial claims to insurance providers.
- Follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely payment.
- Post payments to patient accounts and maintain accurate, up-to-date billing records.
- Educate patients and families on billing and insurance procedures.
- Work with the clinical team to ensure accurate and complete documentation.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in medical billing, preferably in the pediatric healthcare space.
- Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) and billing systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a close-knit team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with pediatric speech and occupational therapy billing.
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans.
- Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) certification.
