Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our home health team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in physiotherapy practices, with experience in outpatient, inpatient, or skilled nursing facility settings. This role involves providing high-quality patient care, supporting discharge planning, and ensuring compliance with clinical documentation standards. The PTA will work closely with licensed physical therapists to develop and implement effective care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
Duties
- Assist licensed physical therapists in conducting comprehensive clinical assessments and documenting findings accurately within electronic health records (EHR).
- Implement prescribed treatment plans, including manual therapy techniques, trigger point therapy, and other physiotherapy interventions.
- Operate and maintain medical equipment necessary for patient treatments, ensuring safety and proper functionality.
- Provide patient care across diverse settings such as home health visits, outpatient clinics, or skilled nursing facilities, with a focus on geriatrics, orthopedics, pediatrics, and post-acute care.
- Support discharge planning by preparing patients for transition from active treatment to independent or assisted living environments.
- Maintain detailed and compliant medical documentation in accordance with clinical standards and healthcare regulations.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, pain management strategies, and injury prevention techniques.
Skills
- Proficiency in physiotherapy techniques including manual therapy and trigger point therapy.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to physical therapy practices.
- Experience with clinical assessment documentation and adherence to medical documentation standards.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management systems for accurate record keeping.
- Ability to operate medical equipment safely and effectively during patient treatments.
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored to diverse populations such as geriatrics, pediatrics, or post-surgical patients.
- Inpatient experience or skilled nursing facility background is preferred; outpatient or clinic experience is advantageous.
- Knowledge of discharge planning processes within acute care or outpatient settings.
