American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro position working night shifts in a specialized inpatient neurology unit serving adult and geriatric patients.

Inpatient General Neurology, Medical Stroke, and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit within a large academic medical center
-
23-bed unit with all private rooms, including one reverse airflow room and nine rooms hard-wired for continuous epilepsy monitoring
-
Patient population includes adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, seizures, and medically managed strokes
-
Supports Comprehensive Spine Center and Comprehensive Epilepsy Center programs; may care for overflow neurosurgical and spine surgery patients

Patient ratio is 1:5

Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
-
4–5 weekend shifts required per 4-week period with holiday rotation

No on-call requirements

Floating required to sister units within scope to meet facility needs

EMR: Epic (experience preferred)

Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license; SC license must be in hand or actively in progress prior to start — candidates will not be cleared to begin until SC license is issued and active

Required certifications: BLS (AHA only)

Preferred certifications: ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) (AHA only)

Minimum 1 year of RN experience required

SSN and Driver's License required for consideration

2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

First-time travelers are accepted for this position

Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler

Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized

Pre-start online modules are required to be completed before the first day

This facility is located in a hurricane-prone area; during hurricane season (June–November), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties — peak activity months are August and September
-
RTO requests of 7 days or fewer (excluding holidays) may be approved without facility review; requests exceeding 7 days or including holidays require facility approval and may delay the process
