We are seeking a motivated and energetic Sushi Helper/Kitchen Helper to join our vibrant culinary team. Duties
- Assist in preparing sushi ingredients, including slicing fish and vegetables using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Support the kitchen team with food preparation tasks such as assembling ingredients, portioning, and plating dishes according to recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness by cleaning workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment regularly in accordance with food safety standards
- Operate basic kitchen equipment safely, including knives, rice cookers, and refrigeration units
- Follow food handling procedures diligently to ensure safety and hygiene throughout all stages of meal preparation
- Help with meal assembly and presentation to ensure consistency and visual appeal of sushi offerings
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks efficiently during busy service periods
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is preferred but not required; willingness to learn on the job is highly valued
- Basic food service experience or restaurant background is advantageous
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production environments
- Strong knife skills, slicing techniques, and familiarity with food handling procedures
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency in meal preparation
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork within the kitchen environment
- Passion for culinary arts, especially sushi or Japanese cuisine, is a plus
