About the Role
The Jason Heyward Baseball Academy at Intentional Sports is looking for passionate, experienced baseball coaches who love developing young athletes. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys teaching the fundamentals of the game, helping players improve their skills, and creating a positive learning environment for youth athletes of all ability levels.
Our coaches work primarily with players at the introductory and intermediate stages of development, helping them build confidence, develop proper mechanics, and grow their love for baseball. We are looking for coaches who find genuine fulfillment in teaching—not just coaching advanced players.
As a Baseball Coach, you will proudly represent both Intentional Sports and World Series Champion Jason Heyward through one of Chicago's premier youth baseball development programs. Professionalism, integrity, and a passion for youth development are essential.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coach academy classes for youth baseball players of varying ages and skill levels.
- Help lead baseball clinics focused on hitting, fielding, pitching, catching, and position-specific instruction.
- Assist with the planning and execution of academy leagues, including hitting leagues and other player development programming.
- Deliver high-quality individual and small-group hitting and defensive instruction.
- Reinforce proper baseball fundamentals using age-appropriate teaching methods.
- Create a fun, energetic, and positive environment where players can develop confidence and enjoy learning the game.
- Assist the Baseball Director and coaching staff with additional baseball-specific programming and operational responsibilities as needed.
- Set up and maintain training equipment while helping keep academy spaces organized and professional.
- Build positive relationships with athletes, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Represent Intentional Sports and the Jason Heyward Baseball Academy with professionalism both on and off the field.
Qualifications
- Previous experience coaching youth baseball is required.
- Experience teaching introductory and intermediate-level players is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, player development, and proper mechanics.
- Ability to teach hitting, defense, and general baseball skills in an engaging and encouraging manner.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive coaching style.
- Dependable, organized, and able to work collaboratively with other coaches.
- Available to work evenings and weekends based on academy programming schedules.
We're Looking For Coaches Who...
- Love coaching kids and have the patience to teach the game the right way.
- Enjoy working with beginner and developing players—not just elite athletes.
- Bring energy, positivity, and enthusiasm to every session.
- Hold themselves to the highest standards of professionalism.
- Are lifelong learners who are always looking to improve as coaches.
- Believe that great coaching develops both athletes and people.
