About the Role
Deerfield Supportive Living is seeking an experienced, hands-on Maintenance / Plant Operations Director to oversee the maintenance and physical operations of our senior living community.
This is a working leadership position responsible for keeping the community safe, clean, well-maintained, and operating efficiently. The Maintenance / Plant Operations Director will perform day-to-day maintenance while also providing leadership and oversight to the maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, schedule, and support the maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry teams
- Perform hands-on maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting throughout the community
- Maintain resident apartments, common areas, equipment, building systems, and grounds
- Monitor plumbing, lighting, HVAC, call systems, hot water temperatures, and other essential building systems
- Complete routine safety inspections and preventive maintenance
- Coordinate outside vendors and contractors and communicate project updates to leadership
- Schedule and document required fire inspections, drills, testing, and equipment checks
- Ensure tools, chemicals, supplies, and hazardous materials are stored and handled safely
- Complete apartment inspections, resident room turns, move-in/move-out preparation, and internal moves
- Respond to maintenance emergencies, weather-related needs, and after-hours call-ins when necessary
- Assist with supply ordering, budgeting, and capital improvement planning
- Provide basic troubleshooting for IT, cable, and other community systems
- Maintain compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, and community standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous maintenance or plant operations experience required
- Healthcare, senior living, assisted living, supportive living, or long-term care experience strongly preferred
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of general building maintenance and preventive maintenance
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond quickly to urgent maintenance needs
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Dependable attendance and availability for emergency situations as needed
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75–100 lbs. as needed
- Ability to bend, climb, kneel, reach, push, pull, and work at heights
- Comfortable working around machinery, chemicals, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures
- Must be available for occasional after-hours emergencies and call-ins

Pay: $60,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
