Paint Prep Technician– Aerospace Manufacturing
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00/hour DOE
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday – Friday

About the Opportunity
Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Process Helper for a well-established aerospace manufacturing company in Phoenix, AZ. This position supports the paint and finishing department by assisting with the preparation, masking, cleaning, and processing of components used in aerospace, defense, medical, semiconductor, and other high-precision industries.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to build a career in manufacturing, aerospace finishing, or industrial coatings. Previous metal finishing experience is helpful but not required. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Assist paint operators with part preparation and paint processing activities.
- Clean, mask, and prepare components according to customer specifications and work instructions.
- Assist with operating paint-related equipment, including HVLP paint guns, paint mixers, thickness gauges, and other shop equipment.
- Mix and apply coatings, primers, topcoats, and finishes under supervision.
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine masking and coating requirements.
- Record masking details, paint usage, waste tracking information, and production data accurately.
- Assist with product inspections and report any quality concerns or non-conformances to supervisors.
- Handle customer products and tooling carefully to prevent damage.
- Maintain paint booths, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
- Follow all company safety procedures, environmental requirements, and hazardous material handling guidelines.
- Complete work orders and related documentation accurately and on time.
- Support production goals while maintaining quality standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous manufacturing, production, painting, or metal finishing experience is a plus but not required.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools and equipment.
- Comfortable working around chemicals while utilizing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to alternate between standing and sitting during 8-12 hour shifts.
- Ability to distinguish colors and pass a color vision test.
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
- Corrected or uncorrected vision capable of meeting job requirements.
