Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable and adaptable Substitute Teacher responsible for maintaining a positive, safe, and productive classroom environment in the absence of the regular teacher. Skilled at following lesson plans, supervising students, managing classroom behavior, assisting with learning activities, and communicating effectively with school staff. Quickly builds rapport with students while ensuring school policies and instructional expectations are followed.
Duties
- Deliver lesson plans provided by regular teachers, ensuring continuity of instruction across subjects such as math, literacy, and early childhood education
- Manage classroom behavior effectively using established behavior management techniques to foster a respectful and productive environment
- Implement curriculum activities aligned with educational standards, including curriculum development and lesson planning
- Support students’ social-emotional needs and assist with childcare responsibilities as needed
- Organize classroom activities that promote student engagement, creativity, and learning in both traditional and Montessori or other specialized educational settings
- Adapt instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with disabilities or developmental challenges such as autism or other special education requirements
- Communicate clearly with students, staff, and parents about classroom activities and student progress when appropriate
Skills
- Strong classroom management skills with experience working with children of various ages and abilities
- Knowledge of curriculum development, implementation, and instructional adaptability across multiple subjects including math and literacy education
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder
- Excellent communication skills for mentoring students and collaborating with staff and parents
- Proven ability to organize classroom activities that foster learning and creativity in early childhood or elementary settings
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques to support positive classroom behavior
- Background in special education or inclusive teaching practices is highly desirable
- Ability to proofread and review instructional materials for accuracy and clarity
- Experience working in private schools or Montessori environments is a plus

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
