Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. This opening is for Thursday(8am-6:30pm), Saturday (8am-4:30pm) & Sunday (8am-4:30pm). As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting veterinarians in medical procedures, administering medications, reception and providing support to both the veterinary team and pet owners.
Duties:
- Assist veterinarians in examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, financial transactions, setting up new clients and patients.
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal examinations.
- Take x-rays
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and preventive medicine
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
- Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures
- Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery of patients
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the veterinary clinic
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician is highly desired
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and animal husbandry
- Proficient in dog handling, including training and behavior management
- Familiarity with kennel operations and pet care protocols
- Ability to handle animals with care, compassion, and patience
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and the veterinary team
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records
- Compassionate towards pets and their owners
