Full Job Description

Job Summary

Joyful Melodies Music School is looking for motivated, enthusiastic, committed, musically-gifted teachers to help teach weekly music private/group classes in the bay area. We are looking for music teachers in the following areas:

Piano
Violin
Guitar
Ukulele
Trumpet (Brass instruments)
Flute/Clarinet (Woodwind instruments)
Voice/Choir
Cello
Preschool Music

Responsibilities and Duties

Apply expertise in music pedagogy to teach and lead music classes for young children at participating schools in the San Jose metropolitan area;
Apply expertise in music theory, ear training, and music history to assist in the development and updating of music curriculum for specific students prior to the beginning of classes;
Apply expertise in your instrument and teach on one-to-one basis with our students;
Apply expertise in music pedagogy to assist in new teacher training;
Engage in minimal administrative and business development tasks such-class scheduling, promoting and presenting the music program to new schools and new clients, and accounting for tuition payments.

Qualifications and Skills

Must have current legal status to work in the United States.
Bachelor's degree in music (preference is given to those who've earned MM/MA and/or DM/PhD degrees)
Live in the Bay Area with consistent and reliable transportation to arrive in Cupertino on time for lessons.
Exceptional communication skills with both students and parents.
Willingness to work with parents and students to design personalized lesson plans that cater to a student's independent goals and needs.
Ability to learn and adapt to new teaching environment and requirements.
Experience preparing students for performances and exams.
Knowledge of ABRSM/CM Practical and Theory Exams or willingness to learn how to prepare students for these exams.
Ability to manage teaching schedule and adhere to strict attendance policies.
English proficiency.

COMPENSATION

Compensation is dependent on education, teaching experience, and background.
Teachers are exclusively hired as W2 employees.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
