Controller / Human Resources Manager

Britt’s Flooring & Appliances is a family-owned business that has proudly served Georgia for decades. We are known for delivering exceptional customer service, quality products, and building lasting relationships with both our customers and employees.

As our long-time Controller prepares for retirement after 15 years, we are seeking an experienced financial leader to join our management team and help guide the company’s continued success.

Position Summary

The Controller / Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, payroll, and human resources functions for the company. This position works closely with ownership to provide accurate financial information, ensure compliance, support strategic decision-making, and cultivate a positive workplace culture.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is equally comfortable managing financial operations and supporting employees throughout their employment lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management.
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
Coordinate annual audits and work directly with external CPA firms.
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses for ownership.
Monitor cash flow and assist with financial planning.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
Oversee payroll processing and related reporting.

Human Resources

Manage employee onboarding and offboarding.
Administer employee benefits and insurance programs.
Maintain employee records and HR compliance.
Coordinate recruiting, interviewing, and hiring efforts.
Support performance management and employee development.
Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
Assist managers with employee relations and workplace issues.
Coordinate training programs and HR initiatives.

Leadership

Partner with ownership on strategic planning and business initiatives.
Develop and improve accounting and HR processes.
Lead and mentor administrative and accounting staff.
Maintain confidentiality while demonstrating professionalism and integrity.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
CPA designation is a plus but not required.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Previous Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior accounting leadership experience preferred.
Human Resources experience required.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
Experience with payroll, employee benefits, and HR compliance.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
