Location: 5050 Wesley Rd, Apopka, FL 32712
Employment Type: Temporary to Permanent
Contract Period: 07/13/2026 to 07/12/2027
Work Environment: On-site

Schedule:

Saturday and Sunday overnight dispatch shift: 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM
Additional three weekdays as needed to cover Dispatcher PTO, absences, or driving responsibilities
Must be available for flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Driver Dispatcher - Courier Logistics professional with strong dispatch, customer service, and call-taking experience to support hospital courier logistics operations. This is a patient-facing position requiring excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The Driver Dispatcher will spend approximately 50% of the workday performing dispatch responsibilities, including receiving and documenting calls through an electronic logistics dispatch system, coordinating courier activities, monitoring driver performance, and maintaining excellent customer relationships.

This position requires candidates with experience handling customer calls, dispatch coordination, and resolving delivery-related issues. The ideal candidate is comfortable communicating with hospital personnel, managing multiple drivers, and working independently while maintaining high service standards.

General Summary:

The Driver - Dispatcher will be cross-trained to perform multiple functions, including:

Dispatcher - Courier Logistics
Driver - Courier Logistics
Driver - Warehouse

This position requires independent judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to actively participate in outstanding customer service while maintaining respectful relationships with internal and external customers.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Receive, document, and manage calls using the electronic Dispatch software logistics system.
Coordinate routine and STAT laboratory and non-laboratory pickups.
Educate customers regarding available shipping and delivery services.
Monitor drivers for punctuality, responsiveness, and completion of assigned routes.
Safely transport biological specimens and related paperwork, equipment, supplies, reports, and other materials according to department expectations and scheduled routes.
Safely operate 24-foot vans and commercial trucks while utilizing knowledge of Orlando and surrounding areas for efficient transportation and delivery.
Perform responsibilities outlined in Driver - Courier Logistics, Dispatcher - Courier Logistics, and Driver - Warehouse functions.
Use computer systems, barcode readers, fax machines, copiers, and scanners.
Communicate effectively with hospital personnel, internal departments, and external customers.
Resolve basic customer delivery concerns and escalate issues appropriately when needed.
Maintain accurate documentation and communicate any discrepancies or irregularities to management.
Immediately notify supervisors of traffic tickets, accidents, or safety concerns.
Meet with Supervisor, Manager, and Director as scheduled.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support smooth department operations.

Ability to interpret and communicate directions using GPS mapping applications.
Ability to respond appropriately to buzzers, bells, flashing lights, and pagers.
Ability to manage a shift involving multiple drivers when supervisors or managers are unavailable.
Mature judgment and ability to handle confidential information according to AdventHealth guidelines and applicable regulations.
Knowledge of Orlando and surrounding areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous courier experience preferred.
Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate preferred.

Education and Experience:

Required:

Valid Florida Commercial Driver License (Class B)
Driving record must meet Florida Hospital policy requirements

Must be available for overnight, weekend, holiday, and flexible scheduling needs.
Must demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work independently.
