Job Title: Facilities Engineer

As we scale our operations and expand our product portfolio, Electrovaya is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Quality Manager to strengthen our development quality processes and ensure flawless execution during prototype builds and production transfers.

Position Overview

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all building systems, infrastructure, and equipment. This role combines technical expertise with project management to support maintenance activities, optimize facility performance, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. The Facilities Engineer works closely with operations, maintenance, health & safety, and external contractors to maintain a high‑performing, compliant facility.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Maintenance

Oversee the performance, reliability, and lifecycle of building systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire protection, and structural components. Ownership of CDA, glycol, chilled water, HVAC, compressors, dryers, pumps, and plant utility systems
Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Troubleshoot equipment failures and provide engineering support to maintenance teams.
Monitor facility performance metrics (energy use, downtime, maintenance KPIs) and implement
Support equipment installation and commissioning and improvements.
Oversee BAS building automation systems

Project Management

Plan, design, and execute facility upgrades, renovations, and capital projects.
Prepare project scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical specifications.
Coordinate contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure safe and timely project delivery.
Ensure all work complies with building codes, safety regulations, and internal standards.
FAT, SAT, commissioning, and startup support
Development of SOPs, PM plans, spare parts lists, and emergency procedure
Troubleshooting utility failures and coordinating with vendors, controls, maintenance, production

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with local, provincial/state, and federal regulations (building codes, environmental standards, fire safety, etc.).
Conduct facility inspections, risk assessments, and root‑cause analyses.
Support emergency preparedness planning and infrastructure resilience.
Maintain documentation such as drawings, permits, maintenance records, and equipment manuals.

Energy & Sustainability

Identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption, waste, and operating costs.
Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to building efficiency.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Partner with operations, EHS, IT, and security teams to support facility needs.
Provide engineering guidance for space planning, equipment installation, and process changes.
Serve as a technical resource for leadership and maintenance personnel.

QualificationsEducation & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Facilities Engineering (or equivalent experience).
3–7 years of experience in facilities engineering, building systems, or industrial maintenance.
Experience with capital projects, building automation systems (BAS), and maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Experience with process utilities (compressed air, steam, chilled water).
Knowledge of reliability engineering (RCM, FMEA, vibration analysis).

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and building infrastructure.
Familiarity with CAD software, building codes, and engineering standards.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Understanding of energy management principles and sustainability practices.

Soft Skills

Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Comfortable working in fast‑paced, operational environments.
