Full Job Description

Pay: $21.00–$27.00 per hour + Commission & Performance Bonuses
Expected First-Year Earnings: $45,000–$65,000+ based on experience, performance, and client volume
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Monmouth County, NJ (Travel Required)

About The Dog Wizard

The Dog Wizard is a nationally recognized dog training company specializing in obedience training, behavior modification, and owner education. We utilize a balanced training approach that emphasizes clear communication, accountability, structure, and fair reinforcement to create lasting results for both dogs and their owners.

Our goal is not only to train dogs, but also to educate owners so they can build stronger relationships and maintain success long after training is complete.

We are seeking a motivated and professional Dog Trainer to join our growing Monmouth County team. This is a hands-on role working directly with dogs and clients through private lessons, group classes, day training programs, and potentially board & train programs depending on experience and business needs. We are looking for someone who wants more than just a job—someone interested in building a long-term career with opportunities for professional growth and leadership.

What You'll Do

Train dogs in obedience, behavior modification, leash manners, reactivity, and other behavioral challenges
Lead private lessons, group classes, and day training programs
Participate in board & train programs when applicable
Educate and coach dog owners to ensure long-term success
Track training progress and maintain accurate client records
Build strong relationships with clients through excellent communication and customer service
Participate in local marketing events, community outreach, and social media content creation
Collaborate with team members to maintain consistent training standards and client experience
Safely transport dogs using company vehicles when required

What We're Looking For

Previous dog training experience preferred
Strong communication and customer service skills
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Professional, reliable, and organized
Passion for helping both dogs and owners succeed
Comfortable working within or learning a balanced dog training system focused on clear communication and measurable results
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Must live in or be willing to relocate to Monmouth County, NJ
Professional or client references required

Training & Professional Development

Completion of The Dog Wizard training program required
Up to 19 days of hands-on training may be required depending on experience level
Travel for training may be required
Ongoing education and mentorship from experienced trainers
Opportunities to learn advanced behavior modification and training techniques
