Swim Instructor Salaries in California

You’ll complete a brief swim assessment during training. No prior teaching experience required — we’ll provide full training and mentorship.

$26.50 - $28.00 an hour

You make your own schedule. Keep in mind that it takes time to drive to people’s homes, and we only pay for the time spent with students.

$61.60 - $90.00 an hour

Experience as a certified lifeguard, swimming instructor, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider is preferred.

$25 an hour

CPR/First Aid certification preferred. Experience teaching swim lessons to young children (ages 3–6 preferred). Patient, reliable, and engaging teaching style.

$50 an hour

CPR/First Aid/AED and/or lifeguard certification is a plus; *certification options may be discussed with qualified candidates who do not currently hold them*.
