The Case Setter is responsible for performing skilled installation work related to the placement, assembly, leveling, anchoring, and finishing of commercial cases, fixtures, and related components. This role supports supermarket and commercial construction projects, including display cases, shelving systems, equipment stands, and store fixtures. Work is performed independently or as part of a crew while adhering to all applicable safety regulations, company standards, and jobsite requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, level, anchor, and secure commercial cases, shelving, and store fixtures according to project specifications
- Perform skilled setup and alignment of display cases, equipment stands, counters, and related fixture components
- Read and interpret blueprints, layout drawings, installation instructions, and project specifications to ensure accurate placement
- Measure and verify field dimensions to ensure cases and fixtures fit properly within designated spaces
- Make necessary adjustments and minor modifications to ensure proper fit, finish, and alignment of installed components
- Coordinate work with project managers, refrigeration technicians, electricians, and other trades as required
- Complete assigned installation projects in a professional manner that meets customer and company standards
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including notes and photos, for all assigned work
- Comply with all company policies, jobsite procedures, and safety requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and company vehicle or assigned tools
- Travel to various job sites as required
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the case setting trade as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience installing commercial cases, fixtures, shelving, or related store equipment
- Demonstrated knowledge of layout, measuring, leveling, anchoring, and assembly practices
- Ability to read blueprints, installation drawings, and project specifications
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and common installation equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Ability to follow established procedures and detailed work instructions
- Commitment to safe work practices and jobsite safety compliance
Certifications and Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous trade school, carpentry, fixture installation, or construction-related training preferred
- Valid state driver's license required and must be maintained
- Additional safety training or industry certifications preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, reach, push, and pull
- Must be able to lift, carry, and handle materials weighing up to 75 pounds
- Work is performed in commercial construction and retail environments, including active jobsites
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, dust, and varying temperatures
