What we are looking for:
We are seeking a Control System Service Technician. The Controls System Technician position is responsible for troubleshooting, calibration, service, and support of industrial control, combustion, and thermal systems across a variety of customer applications. This role includes instrumentation calibration, burner tuning, PLC/HMI troubleshooting, startup support, and technical support. The ideal candidate is hands-on, customer-focused, and interested in industrial automation and process control technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct end-to-end troubleshooting of power and logic and ending with the input and output machinery, equipment or instrumentation.

Troubleshoot, service, maintain, repair industrial combustion and thermal systems including burners, burner management systems, fuel trains, valves, and associated instrumentation.
-
Determine integrity of control loops (4-20mA), instrumentation, process controllers, PLC hardware, and control power systems to support rapid repair of down equipment and processes.
-
Perform calibration of instrumentation including pressure, temperature, level, flow, water analyzers, and control valves using handheld and PC-based calibration tools.

Perform combustion system startup assistance, burner tuning, combustion safety checks, and air/fuel ratio adjustments for industrial thermal processes.

Experience with industrial control systems including PLCs, HMIs, process instrumentation, sensors, and automated control components.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, manuals, circuit diagrams, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Utilize Project Management tools, software, and procedures including ClickUp, Procore, and Acumatica.

Assist with installation and startup of control systems including loop checks, instrumentation calibration, onsite startup, client training, and documentation.

Provide onsite and remote technical troubleshooting and support for control systems, instrumentation, and combustion-related applications.

Prepare clear service reports documenting the customer request, work performed, findings, corrective actions, recommendations, and follow-up items.

Assist GTH sales teams with technical application support, product recommendations, and customer-facing troubleshooting activities.

Educate customers on GTH products & services.

Qualifications:

Ability to work independently in field environments while maintaining strong communication with customers, sales teams, and internal engineering staff.

Strong technical and operational knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment and systems. Strong aptitude for repair and maintenance activities.

Experience with industrial combustion systems, thermal processes, burner management controls, or flame safeguard systems preferred.

Ability to read and interpret CAD layouts, bill of materials, and electrical circuitry diagrams and drawings.

Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues. Issues may include testing, replacement or repair electrical systems including three phase or single-phase electrical systems up to 600volts, AC or DC motors, power supplies, variable frequency drives, servo drives, transformers, motor starters, proximity sensors, encoders, programmable logic controllers (PLC) & Operator Interface Terminals (OIT).

Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) preferred. Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC ladder and block logic. Ability to load programs or configure PLC’s, HMI, scanners.

Advanced computer skills related to maintenance, service and configuration of electromechanical devices, instrumentation, and network systems.

Ability to read and interpret Drawings and schematics.

Communicates effectively both verbally and in written form.

Ability to operate instrumentation equipment and interpret test results; reason through complex problems under pressure; use power and hand tools; use safety gear and equipment; operate personal computer in LAN/WAN environment; troubleshooting plant-specific software programs; operate standard word processing, spreadsheet, database software; and operate standard office equipment.

Strong troubleshooting aptitude with the ability to diagnose electrical, instrumentation, combustion, and process-related issues in industrial environments.
