Role Snapshot
HIP Video Promo is looking for a smart, creative, music-minded PR and social media marketing coordinator to help promote artists, music videos, short-form content, and the company itself.
This role blends writing, pitching, music marketing, social media, research, campaign support, and creative promotional thinking. The ideal candidate is a strong writer with good taste, strong social media instincts, and an interest in how artists build attention online.
This is a remote role, but candidates should be available and responsive during regular East Coast business hours.
Who We Are
Founded in 2000 by Andy Gesner, HIP Video Promo specializes in music video promotion, online PR, social media marketing, video content, and artist visibility campaigns.
We’ve worked with major labels and respected independent labels including Sony, Universal, Atlantic Records, 4AD, Saddle Creek, Polyvinyl, Sub Pop, Daptone, and others, while also supporting independent artists at every stage of their careers.
We’ve helped promote music videos for artists including Mýa, Vanessa Carlton, Parcels, Milky Chance, Flau’jae, FKA twigs, Justina Valentine, Flume, Method Man, and many independent artists across the world.
Music videos remain a major part of what we do, but our work also includes short-form content, social media promotion, artist visibility, and broader release campaigns when appropriate. We help artists strengthen their promotional strategy, expand their reach, and get their work in front of the right audiences.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who can support day-to-day promotional campaigns while also bringing ideas, taste, and creative judgment to the table.
The role is first and foremost about promotion. That includes writing press releases and pitches, researching outlets, pitching artists and videos, helping manage HIP’s social media presence, supporting campaign work, and helping us find fresh ways to promote both our clients and our company.
The right candidate should understand how music, video, short-form content, and social platforms work together to build attention online. They should be able to find strong promotional angles across a wide range of artists, genres, budgets, and career stages.
Strong creative taste and editorial judgment are important. We need someone who can help present artists, campaigns, and HIP’s own brand in a polished, credible, and compelling way — not generic, cookie-cutter, or overly corporate.
Experience with creative tools is helpful, especially for shaping social media content, short-form edits, lyric videos, graphics, or other promotional assets.
This person will work closely with HIP founder Andy Gesner and the broader team on daily promotional priorities.
Responsibilities may include:
- Writing and editing press releases, artist pitches, captions, campaign copy, and marketing materials, often based on client questionnaires, campaign assets, and team direction
- Researching music blogs, websites, playlists, writers, social accounts, media contacts, and promotional opportunities
- Pitching music videos, artists, short-form content, releases, and campaigns to relevant outlets
- Helping manage and improve HIP Video Promo’s social media presence across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, email/newsletter, and other platforms
- Developing creative ideas and assets to promote HIP’s services, client wins, music video placements, short-form content, and company brand
- Creating or shaping short-form clips, graphics, captions, and promotional content when needed
- Assisting with online advertising and paid promotion efforts as needed
- Reviewing artist materials, music videos, short-form content, campaign assets, and promotional angles
- Tracking outreach, campaign updates, press opportunities, and results
- Assisting with select video-related projects, such as lyric videos or promotional clips, depending on experience
Strong candidates should have:
- 1–3 years of experience in music PR, digital marketing, social media, journalism, college radio, music blogging, artist promotion, or a related area
- Strong writing ability, especially for press releases, pitches, captions, artist bios, newsletters, ads, or marketing copy
- Strong creative taste, editorial judgment, and a practical creative mindset
- A real interest in music, music videos, short-form content, social media, and online culture
- Solid understanding of platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and email/newsletter marketing
- Ability to research effectively and find relevant websites, writers, outlets, playlists, social accounts, and promotional opportunities
- Experience with creative tools such as Canva, Adobe Premiere, CapCut, Final Cut, Photoshop, or similar platforms
- Interest in creating or shaping short-form social clips, reels, lyric videos, or other promotional video content
- Familiarity with independent music, hip-hop, pop, rock, alternative, country, R&B, or other music scenes
- Some familiarity with Google Ads, Meta ads, YouTube promotion, or paid digital marketing is helpful
- Good judgment, attention to detail, organization, and a self-starting attitude
- Comfort working remotely and communicating clearly during regular East Coast business hours
To Apply
Please send your resume, along with a brief note explaining your interest in music PR, social media, music videos, short-form content, and online promotion.
Writing samples, social media examples, video edits, lyric videos, Canva work, ad examples, newsletters, or other relevant portfolio links are encouraged but not required.
In your application, please also answer the following:
- Name one artist, music video, music campaign, social account, playlist, or music publication you think is doing something interesting right now. What makes it work?
- Write 3–5 sentences pitching a music video, short-form video, or release from an independent artist to a music website. You can choose any artist or campaign you want, but be specific about the angle.
- Suggest one creative way HIP Video Promo could promote a client music video, short-form clip, release, or client win on social media without making it feel generic.
We are not looking for perfect answers. We are looking for strong taste, clear thinking, good writing, and an understanding of how music gets promoted online.
