About HyPoint Solutions

HyPoint Solutions builds remote sensing systems that improve transportation safety by measuring vehicles and roadway activity at highway speeds using LiDAR and cameras, with a web portal and open APIs for customers and partners. Flagship products include HawkScan/Falcon (oversize vehicle measurement/analytics) and Kingfisher (real-time truck parking occupancy monitoring).

The role

We’re hiring a pragmatic generalist software engineer who can work across our AWS cloud platform and our Windows-based edge system that processes and syncs data from deployed roadside installations. This is a hands-on role with real ownership: building product features, improving reliability, and tightening deployments/observability.

What you’ll do

Cloud platform (AWS / Kubernetes)

Build and maintain backend services and APIs (data ingestion, customer access, integrations, exports).
Own data modeling and performance for our time-series/event data (TimescaleDB/Postgres patterns).
Operate and improve our Kubernetes-based production platform on AWS (EKS/ECR, IaC, CI/CD).
Improve monitoring and incident response: logs/metrics/alerts, tracing where appropriate.

Edge system (Windows)

Work on edge services that collect/process sensor data and reliably sync results to the cloud.
Improve offline/spotty-connectivity behavior: buffering, retries, idempotency, and safety.
Support deployment/maintenance workflows for edge devices (configuration management, upgrades).

Team & process

Collaborate with product/operations to diagnose field issues and ship fixes fast.
Contribute to code quality, documentation, and pragmatic engineering standards.

Current stack (what you’ll work with)

AWS: EC2, S3, EKS/ECR, CloudWatch, IAM/KMS (plus VPN/port-forwarding tooling)Cloud App: Kubernetes + GoCD + GitHub Actions (self-hosted runner), Terraform, RabbitMQ, TimescaleDB (self-hosted), services in Golang / Python / Node.js, frontend Vue.jsEdge: Ansible deployments/integration, “Falcon” app in Rust, RabbitMQ, services in Golang / Python / Node.js, frontend Vue.js

What we’re looking for (must-haves)

3+ years building production software (we’re open to mid-to-senior; we care most about capability/ownership).
Strong backend fundamentals: API design, data modeling, debugging, and performance.
Comfortable with SQL/Postgres (indexes, migrations, query tuning). TimescaleDB experience is a plus.
Experience shipping modern web UIs (Vue/React/etc.).Ability to work across environments: cloud + Windows edge, networking realities, and message queues.
Solid DevOps instincts: can read logs, reason about deployments, and improve reliability.

Nice to have

Kubernetes in production (EKS or equivalent), Terraform/IaC, CI/CD pipelines.
RabbitMQ or similar messaging systems; distributed systems patterns (idempotency, backpressure, retries).
Rust experience (or desire to learn quickly).
Observability tooling and practices (structured logging, metrics, alerting, tracing).
Experience with field-deployed/IoT-ish systems or intermittent connectivity.
