Position Overview - Multiple Openings – Lead and Staff Principal Levels
Our Software Engineers operate and maintain end-to-end solutions, systems, and products for our customers. The team investigates and resolves product and solution problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel. Candidates load software, configure, integrate, verify, and troubleshoot solutions in a lab environment or customer site using Oceus Network’s products, 3rd party products, and/or customized packages.
Candidate hiring tier will be determined during the interview process based on total years of experience, technical capability, and leadership scope.

Level Breakdown & Tiered Qualifications (Lead and Staff Principal)
Lead (8-10 years)

Experience: 8–10 years of engineering experience in computer technology, telecommunications, or related systems integration roles.

Skill Focus: Advanced proficiency in software architecture and distributed systems design, with the ability to lead implementation of complex subsystems. Strong experience developing and optimizing production grade applications using modern programming languages such as Go, Rust, Java, C++, or Python. Deep understanding of cloud native concepts, microservices, container orchestration, messaging systems, and CI/CD pipelines. High-level problem-solving capability, including diagnosing multi layered issues across code, infrastructure, networking, and security boundaries. Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex engineering decisions clearly and influencing team direction. Demonstrated leadership in guiding software engineers, fostering strong team collaboration, and contributing to a positive technical culture. Strong fluency in secure system design principles, threat modeling, and compliance-oriented engineering approaches. Commitment to continuous learning, staying current with emerging tools, frameworks, and methodologies to keep the platform modern and competitive.

Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of complex software components and subsystems, ensuring they meet scalability, performance, and security requirements. Serve as a senior technical escalation point for challenging software and integration issues, coordinating with cross functional teams to drive efficient resolution. Contribute to architectural decisions by defining design patterns, establishing engineering best practices, and guiding the evolution of key platform modules. Evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks, perform feasibility assessments, and recommend solutions that enhance product reliability and long-term maintainability. Lead solution planning efforts, including requirements refinement, technical scoping, prototype development, and risk identification for new initiatives. Provide structured mentorship and technical guidance to mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and collaborative problem solving. Collaborate closely with product management, QA, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure technical implementations align with business goals and customer needs. Drive modernization projects—such as refactoring legacy components or migrating services to cloud native architectures—to improve system reliability and developer efficiency. Communicate technical choices, tradeoffs, and project impacts clearly to internal stakeholders, influencing direction through strong engineering rationale.
Staff Principal (12-15 years)

Experience: 12-15 years of engineering experience in computer technology, telecommunications, or related systems integration roles.

Deep experience building and optimizing large-scale systems using modern programming languages (e.g., Go, Rust, Java, C++, Python). Strong mastery of cloud-native architectures, container orchestration, microservices, messaging systems, and CI/CD pipelines. Advanced problem-solving capability, including diagnosing multi-layered issues spanning code, infrastructure, networking, security, and performance. Exceptional communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence engineering direction, guide architectural decisions, and communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences. Proven leadership experience guiding multiple engineering teams, establishing technical culture, and driving cross-functional collaboration. Strong competency in secure system design, threat modeling, and compliance driven engineering. Continuous learning mindset with demonstrated expertise in evaluating emerging frameworks, tools, and methodologies to keep platforms modern and competitive.

Responsibilities: Lead the architectural design, implementation, and optimization of large scale, mission critical software systems, ensuring long term scalability, performance, and security. Serve as the highest-level technical escalation point for complex software, integration, and platform issues, driving cross functional resolution across engineering, product, and infrastructure teams. Define and enforce engineering standards, coding practices, design patterns, and architectural frameworks across multiple teams and product lines. Drives technical strategy by evaluating emerging technologies, conducting feasibility assessments, and guiding adoption of modern architectures and development approaches. Oversee end to end solution design, including requirements analysis, technical scoping, prototyping, implementation planning, and risk mitigation. Mentor senior and staff engineers through advanced technical coaching, architecture reviews, and structured skill building programs. Collaborate with cross department stakeholders to align platform direction with business objectives, customer needs, and long-term product strategy. Lead complex refactors, modernization efforts, and platform migrations to improve reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency. Represent engineering in high level customer, partner, and executive discussions, translating technical decisions into clear business-oriented impacts.
