Young Management & Consulting (YMC) is seeking an experienced Scheduler to support major Transmission and Power Delivery capital projects. This position will provide project scheduling, planning, forecasting, and schedule analysis support to Project Managers, engineering teams, construction teams, contractors, and other key project stakeholders.
The Scheduler will be responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and updating detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, with a strong emphasis on Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling. This individual will help ensure engineering, procurement, construction, land, and project delivery activities remain aligned with established project milestones, resource requirements, budgets, and overall program objectives.
The successful candidate will possess strong Primavera P6 experience, an understanding of utility or infrastructure project execution, and the ability to identify schedule risks and communicate potential impacts before they affect project delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Scheduling & Controls
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed Primavera P6 project schedules for transmission and power delivery capital projects.
- Build and manage integrated project schedules incorporating engineering, design, procurement, construction, land acquisition, permitting, testing, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
- Apply Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling principles to identify critical and near-critical activities.
- Establish and maintain schedule logic, activity durations, milestones, constraints, calendars, and relationships.
- Ensure schedules align with approved project timelines, project objectives, scheduling standards, and established project controls procedures.
- Perform routine schedule updates utilizing actual project progress and current forecast information.
- Maintain schedule integrity and ensure scheduling data remains accurate, current, and actionable.
Schedule Analysis & Forecasting
- Analyze project performance against approved baseline schedules and established project milestones.
- Identify schedule variances, delays, resource constraints, sequencing conflicts, and potential downstream impacts.
- Evaluate schedule trends and forecast potential impacts to project completion dates and major milestones.
- Perform schedule risk analysis and develop recommendations for mitigating potential delays.
- Evaluate alternative sequencing and scheduling strategies to support project recovery and optimization.
- Provide short- and long-range schedule forecasts to support project and resource planning.
- Assist project teams with developing recovery schedules and mitigation plans when projects fall behind established timelines.
Project & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate schedule inputs with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, Construction Managers, Contractors, Procurement teams, Land teams, and other project stakeholders.
- Facilitate regularly scheduled project schedule review and update meetings.
- Work directly with project teams to validate schedule progress, upcoming activities, resource requirements, and milestone dates.
- Identify scheduling conflicts and proactively coordinate with appropriate stakeholders to develop solutions.
- Communicate schedule changes, risks, delays, and potential project impacts clearly and promptly to project leadership.
- Support coordination of resource assignments across engineering, design, construction, land engineering, land acquisition, and other project disciplines.
- Build productive working relationships with internal teams, external contractors, customers, and strategic partners.
Reporting & Project Controls
- Prepare and distribute project schedule reports, milestone reports, look-ahead schedules, variance reports, and schedule performance updates.
- Provide project leadership with clear visibility into schedule status, critical activities, emerging risks, and forecast completion dates.
- Support 12-month and 18-month forecasting for resource and project planning.
- Assist long-range planning efforts involving project schedules and resource utilization forecasts.
- Support project controls reporting and ensure schedule information is consistent with overall project reporting.
- Participate in schedule audits and reviews to ensure compliance with project controls standards and scheduling best practices.
- Maintain scheduling documentation and historical schedule information as required.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated professional experience developing and managing complex project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Strong working knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.

- Proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex schedule information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous scheduling or project controls experience supporting electric utilities, transmission, distribution, substations, power generation, or major infrastructure projects.
- Experience supporting large capital construction programs and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Understanding of utility project management and project controls processes.
- Experience coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, and resource schedules.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant scheduling experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- PMI-SP, PMP, or other relevant project controls/scheduling certification is a plus.

Travel & Work Environment
- Position may require periodic travel to project sites, utility facilities, and project coordination meetings.
- Work will include interaction with office-based project teams as well as engineering and construction personnel in field environments.
- Candidates must be comfortable supporting multiple projects and working within a fast-paced capital project environment.
